Privacy Policy for Tap & Track
Effective Date: January 19, 2026
Tap & Track ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and safeguard your information when you use the Tap & Track mobile application (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
When you use Tap & Track, we may collect the following categories of information:
User Profile Information: Age, height, weight, and gender used to personalize your experience.
Contact Information: Your email address for account-related communication and updates.
Account Information: Authentication data, including hashed passwords or third‑party identifiers.
Device Identifiers: Such as the IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) on iOS, used for advertising measurement.
2. Camera Access
Tap & Track may request access to your device’s camera for barcode scanning and food logging via image capture. The camera is only accessed when you explicitly activate these features. Photos are processed temporarily and are not permanently stored on our servers.
3. Use of Data
We use collected information to:
Provide personalized nutrition and tracking insights.
Authenticate accounts and manage sessions.
Communicate important updates and security notices.
Measure and optimize our advertising campaigns (specifically through the Meta SDK).
Improve app stability and user experience.
Note: We do not sell your personal information. Data is shared with third parties only when necessary for core app functionality or for measuring our advertising effectiveness as described in Section 5.
4. Permissions and Device Access
The App requests access to the Camera, Internet connectivity, and Secure local storage exclusively to support features you actively initiate.
5. Third‑Party Services
Meta SDK (Advertising & Analytics): We use the Meta SDK to measure the effectiveness of our ads and to reach potential users on the US market. It collects device identifiers (IDFA) and app events (e.g., installs, subscriptions). This is used strictly for marketing measurement, not for Facebook Login.
Firebase: We use Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Authentication) to monitor performance and manage accounts.
OpenAI (ChatGPT): Food recognition and nutrition analysis rely on OpenAI’s API. Data sent is processed in real-time and is not used for advertising.
6. HealthKit Usage
If you connect Apple Health (HealthKit), we may read/write data like weight and dietary energy. This data is never used for advertising and is never sold.
7. Your Choices and iOS Tracking
Since we target the US market, we respect the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.
If you select "Ask App Not to Track" on your iPhone, the Meta SDK will not collect your IDFA or track your activity for targeted ads.
You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking.
8. Use of Images for AI Training (US Only)
For users in the United States, uploaded food photos may be used in anonymized form to improve our proprietary AI models. Users outside the US are excluded from this.
9. International Data Transfers & Hosting
We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) for secure hosting. Data is stored in the US and/or EU only. We comply with international security standards (ISO 27001).
10. Data Retention & Your Rights
We retain data only while your account is active. You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA. Requests: developer@trianvil.com
11. Children’s Privacy
Tap & Track is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
